Do I need to apply every year, and what's the deadline?
Most eligible homeowners under 65 (not receiving Social Security or Railroad Retirement disability) and most renters are auto-filed by the state. Everyone should still confirm their mailing address, banking details, and the filing deadline — November 2, 2026 for the current benefit year — on the NJ Division of Taxation site.
